This page is for both mapmakers and people who play a lot of HOMM and want to help ensure a good supply of well-tested maps. It works like this:
- The playtester reads the guidelines specified here.
- If they're happy to playtest maps, they then add their name and details to the list below, by logging in to MapHaven, clicking on the link below, and then pressing the "Post a Notice" button.
- If the playtester wants to change their message or remove themselves from the list, they log in to MapHaven, then click on the link with their name in, and follow the "Admin Notice" link.
- The Mapmaker reads the same guidelines.
- The mapmakers then look for a playtester on this list who is likely to be interested in playing their map.
- The mapmaker should then send an email to the playtester describing the map and asking if the playtester is willing to test it. Do not send the map at this stage! Email only one playtester at a time!
- The playtester should reply within about three days as to whether or not they are interested in playtesting that map, and when they think they might do so.
- If the playtester said yes, then the mapmaker should send them the map. If the playtester said no, then the mapmaker should try another playtester, or try posting the map on MapHaven as "Needs Playtesting".
- When the playtester has played the map as far as they can, they should email the mapmaker with reports of any problems they encountered. Other constructive criticism is also nice.
- The mapmaker should thank the playtester for their feedback, and fix any bugs reported. Other improvements are also nice.
